User Groups
User Groups are a great way to get together with other people learning about gasification. Share ideas and experiences and tackle projects that you find interesting. Partner up with folks who have different skills and you can accomplish amazing things.
Turning biomass into usable energy, heat, fuels and biochar is a life changing experience that you can only get in a real world setting.
Tips for getting the most out of a User Group:
- Create a user group at: http://victorygasworks.ning.com/groups/group/new
- Try to meet regularly. Once a month or so. Access to shop space is a nice benefit.
- Assemble your dream team. You want people with the following skills: Fabrication–Electrical–Engineering/CAD–Feedstock–Engines–Heating.
- Set the date of your event and then request an Introduction to Gasification DVD to show your new group. The DVD is free, you cover shipping. This is a good way to get your group on the same page as to what gasification can do and not do. Many new users overestimate what gasification can do for them on a homeowner budget. In the DVD we highlight all of the different uses for gasifiers and how to best achieve quality results.
- Take lot’s of pictures and video and update your group page. Continue the conversation between meetings in the Group Forum.
- Attract new members by using services like www.meetup.com and free local events postings.
