Barbecue pictures

What a great time meeting more gasifier enthusiasts. We brought out some of the old school gasifiers and did a group build on the Victory Gasifier. Everyone seemed to like the hands-on approach. Fired it right up and was making a gorgeous flame in minutes. The pull start engine fired on the first try and came screaming to life.

But it wouldn’t be an action flick without an explosion or two. Our stunt man Steve “the engine guy” Unruh provided the theatrics. Steve you are supposed to turn the blower motor off before trying to put out the flame. What ensued was the biggest “puffback” that I have ever seen! By a factor of 10. She took a licking and kept on ticking. The blower was fine and within a minute the engine was fired up. That’s what craftsmanship does for you. What made it all the funnier was that there was a county official sitting right there questioning “What the hell are you guys doing?” In only took a few minutes to win him over.

Here is a picture of the chunks coming out of the screw chipper project. These are some awesome chunks. The chipper still needs a feed chute and some beefing up in a few places, but fuel preparation is going to get alot easier.

The next challenge is moving chinks of this size through a feed system. We have redesigned the auger to handle the bulky chips and even wood chunks. That will be painted up and ready for show and tell soon.

The workshop is buzzing with activity. Lot’s of cool applications are being built, tweaked and tested. This is our woodgas kiln. Who needs propane when you have woodgas?

Perfect for the backyard blacksmith that wants to heat up some metal. Might be a good tool for glass artists as well.

This is the nice clean set-up. That stainless sure looks good doesn’t it?

John… John, what are you putting in there? Please tell me those aren’t walnut shells! Oh no, they are walnut shells. How could you sink so low? Oh well, a gasser has to do what a gasser has to do. Free fuel is better than no fuel.

Doing demonstrations outside of the comfort of my shop has made it necessary to have both AC & DC power available to me, so I developed this cool little rolling power pack. Steve “the engine guy” Unruh helped my procure the best batteries and inverter for my budget and John put together this photo tutorial, with a Youtube video in edit.
Step 1- Supplies

We have a Stanley rolling tool carrier purchased from Home Depot. 2 deep cycle 12 volt batteries. 1000 watt inverter, and battery cables.

Step 2- Placing the inverter

We just drilled a couple holes and zip tied the inverter to the inside of the box. A hole was cut in the side of the box for the 120 outlet.

Step 3- Use some wood to keep batteries from sloshing around

Two 2×4’s keep the batteries from moving. Quick and cheap.

Step 4- Wiring it up

Attach the positive to the positive, negative to the negative to keep it as a 12 volt system. Now you have power wherever you need it and the beauty is… it rolls!

The Northwest Semi-Finalists for the Clean Tech Open competition were announced a few hours ago. 16 companies made it to the semi’s.

I entered Innovatus Energy by putting together a business plan for a
utility scale tri-generation plant producing heat, fuels and electricity using some of the best technology my research has uncovered.

I am proud to say that Innovatus was named a Semi-Finalist and we will be going to California in July for some really cool training that they offer and mentorship with some of the leading cleantech investors around.

There are lot’s of people out there right now that want to help us young entrepreneurs succeed. If you have an innovative clean technology idea, then learn more about the Clean Tech Open and the many different competitions, many of which are hosted by Universities.

I am opening up sales to the DIY guys and potential developers first. After I have a better idea who is on board I will release the rest of the system to those looking for complete solutions. I don’t have the website or buy now button up just yet, but I had to get some prices up before my email account goes over its limit from the requests. I should have the site up by Wednesday and videos by the weekend. I am planning a podcast for next Monday to answer questions.

In the 80’s there was tech and there was green energy. Green energy development had the upperhand, but now 30 years later it was tech that won. Why? The platform/developer model. It basically turns complicated systems into bitesize commerce allowing people to be specialized and creative. That is the model that we are adopting to give the market the price and customization that it wants.

I also made the Victory able to address using a range of small engines without running into suction issues. That means you can use smaller, more cost effective engines. It destroys tars and gives really great performance. You are going to love this thing!

This is the model that the community has been waiting for. A great way to get together, help each other and choose your level of interaction. Some of you will be home owners looking for an energy solution, others will be entrepreneurs looking for a way to bring more clean energy to market. Get together over drinks and have some fun.
